Take a Look Inside OTL, the Design District’s New Bright, Laid-Back Café

What do you get when you combine mega-club mogul David Grutman, developer Craig Robins and the team behind New York City’s The Smile? You get the Design District’s latest cafe, OTL, which officially opened its doors to the public yesterday.
The two-story, 7,000-square-foot, fast-casual restaurant serves up a concise menu of cafe fare with breakfast options like granola, avocado toast, eggs and fruit, lunch dishes like sandwiches, salads, wraps, plus grab-and-go pastries and coffee. Plenty of the items are vegan and gluten-free as well. Happy hour is also in the works in the upcoming weeks.
The airy space designed by local group Deft Union hopes to serve as a “community hangout” in addition to a restaurant, with the second floor hosting a variety of programming, from yoga classes to panel discussions, to designer pop-up shops, and more. And for those who want to sit and get some work done, the space also features “ultra high-speed” internet.
OTL is now open daily at 160 NE 40th Street from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on the weekdays and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the weekends.
